Welcome to my blog! My name is Ke Yuan, and I am currently a sophomore at Portola High School in Irvine, California. I enjoy playing basketball, hanging out with friends, watching movies and tv shows, and of course, playing and making music. I’ve been a competitive violinist since the age of 9 and a competitive pianist since the age of 7, and I have had great musical experiences and careers in both sectors. As a violinist, I was the concertmaster for both my elementary and middle school career and have been a member of my city’s Honors Orchestra all four years since I was eligible, from 5th to 8th grade. During my freshman year, I had the opportunity to be a member of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, the first educational program of the prestigious Pacific Symphony Orchestra and one of the best pre-professional musical training programs in the nation. I have also seen a lot of success in my competitions. I have also had numerous successes in prestigious competitions, such as the Musical Arts Competition of Orange County, VOCE, and Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), where I placed first, second, and third numerous times. In addition, I have been blessed with the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall this December after placing second in the distinguished American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition. As for my piano career, I completed all 10 levels of the Certificate of Merit my freshman year and have been awarded state honors 4 years in a row. Similarly to violin, I have also placed top 3 a multitude of times in similar aforementioned prestigious competitions, in addition to the Concerto Competition, where I placed fourth overall; Bach Festival, where I qualified for the state; and in MTAC’s Theme Festival competition where I placed first three years in a row and had the honor of participating in the final round. 

 

Ever since I was a child, I've been captivated by the magical allure of music, a universal language that transcends barriers and unites souls. As a passionate violinist and pianist for the past 8 years, I've been fortunate to experience firsthand the transformative power of melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. Each concert, competition, music festival, and experience has only strengthened my love for music. As a passionate musician, I strongly believe that music has the power to bring people together and evoke emotions like no other art form can. Therefore, my passion for music has driven me to want to spread its beauty to as many people as possible. Whether it's through performing, teaching, or simply sharing my love for music with others, I am dedicated to making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Which is why I created this website, and I plan to take it a step further by opening a non-profit organization focused on music therapy, while dreaming to pursue a career in the music industry. By combining my love for music and my desire to make a positive impact on the world, I hope to inspire others to embrace the life-changing wonders of this magnificent art form. I truly believe that music can positively impact people's lives, and I am committed to doing my part in sharing its magic with the world.
